Gifts to buy, parties to attend, guests to please - you could say that the end of November is the start to a hectic month. We show you how to channel the stress from the Christmas rush into excitement with these home interior tips.

1. Keep calm, it’s Christmas

After a tiring day wading through bustling crowds to pick up Christmas gifts, there’s no better feeling than to return home and open the door to a calm and warming atmosphere. A few simple adjustments can make all the difference to your space, without costing the earth. A scented candle can lift the ambience, emitting a soothing glow and diffusing a sweet smelling aroma around the room. Fairy lights hung over the mantelpiece can turn a fireplace into an even cosier setting, making it the perfect nesting place for warming up cold hands. And for that extra bit of comfort, snuggle up on the sofa with a soft, cosy throw.

2. Accomodate for guests

With a fleet of guests due to set up camp in your home over the festive period, making some early preparations can help to relieve some of the hosting stress. Perhaps one of the most important things to focus on when getting your home guest-ready is the sleeping essentials. Make sure you're stocked up on extra duvets to accommodate for friends and family members. Sofa beds are ideal for last minute lodgers and will double up as additional seating space when you've got a house full.

3. It’s the time of the year to catch a cold

Whilst winter is a wonderful time of year, a cold is almost always on the cards for many of us. Staying snug and warm is essential for keeping a cold at bay. Stay toasty and tackle the germs by:

  • Using a draught excluder to block unwanted gaps that let cold air in
  • Placing a heavy weight throw on top of your duvet for extra warmth
  • Investing in a good dressing gown to wear during cold mornings

4. Think outside of the box

Christmas needn’t mean filling your home with cheesy ornaments and tatty decorations. Forget the dusty box of tinsel sat up in the loft, create a festive look with the help of a few stylish accessories instead. Fill a large glass jar or bell jar with baubles for a decorative touch. Stick to a fresh winter palette which incorporates crisp whites, shimmery silver and pastel blues.

5. It’s time to be glamourous

If there’s any time we can indulge, it’s Christmas. And as the getting-ready hot spot, there's no better place to pamper yourself than in the bathroom. Turn your bathroom into the ultimate indulgent zone by dotting candles around the bath - ready and waiting for the next time you take a long, hot soak. Add some pot pourri to create a luscious scent whilst you bathe. Don’t forget to stock up on the bubbly!
